News Cheek by Jowl's Tour of 'Tis Pity She's A Whore Will Play Paris, Sydney, London and New York Declan Donnellan will direct John Ford's 'Tis Pity She's A Whore for an international tour by the English ensemble of his Cheek by Jowl company. It will kick off in Paris in November, then appear at the Sydney Festival in Australia before returning to the U.K. for a tour that will include a London run at the Barbican Theatre, beginning performances Feb. 16, 2012, for a run through to March 10, then travelling to New York.

According to press materials, we watch a brother and sister’s passionate descent into hell in this violent and bloody drama.  It is the company’s latest production of a Jacobean tragedy, following The Duchess of Malfi in 1995 and The Changeling in 2006. Cheek by Jowl’s Russian ensemble are currently touring The Tempest. Tis Pity She's a Whore is presented by Cheek by Jowl Theatre Company in a co-production with the Barbican, London, Les Gemeaux/Sceaux/Scène Nationale and Sydney Festival. It is designed by Nick Ormerod, with movement by Jane Gibson and lighting by Judith Greenwood.
