The Mentor Project, according to press notes, is "the cornerstone of Cherry Lane Theatre's play-development programming with veteran playwrights serving as mentors to emerging playwrights in three different Showcase Productions." In a statement playwright Theresa Rebeck said, "There is no question in my mind that this is one of the finest programs for emerging playwrights in America today. It offers young writers what they need to develop into artists: resources, time, attention, support, and a real production."
