The upcoming season, according to the Cherry Lane website, will kick off with Katori Hall's Hoodoo Love, which will run Oct. 16-Dec. 15 with an official opening Oct. 29. The play was part of Cherry Lane's Mentor Project 2006. Lucie Tiberghien, who was mentored by Lynn Nottage, will direct the fall run Hoodoo Love, which is described as such: "In a southern tale of love, magic, jealousy and secrets, Toulou escapes from the Mississippi Delta cotton fields to pursue her dream of singing the blues in Memphis. When she meets a rambling blues man, the notorious Ace of Spades, this dream is realized in a way she could never have imagined."

Two Edward Albee one-acts that were originally seen at the Cherry Lane in the early sixties will return as a double-bill. Albee's The American Dream and The Sandbox will play a limited engagement March 4-April 12, 2008. Discussions with Albee, who Variety reports may direct the production, will follow special performances.

The season will also include Mentor Project 2008, which "engages three nationally renowned dramatists in one-to-one mentorships with three selected playwrights for an entire theater season." The 2008 mentors include Jules Feiffer, Charles Fuller and Michael Weller.
