Casnoff joins the New York company of Kander and Ebb's Tony-winning revival as slick lawyer Billy Flynn. Casnoff succeeds Huey Lewis and is scheduled to stay with the production through March 25.
On Broadway Philip Casnoff has been seen in Rockabye Hamlet, Chess and Shogun, the Musical. Casnoff was nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance in the 1992 miniseries "Sinatra," and his numerous screen credits also include "Numb3rs," "Without a Trace," "Material Girls," "Law & Order," "Strong Medicine," "Frasier," "For All Time," "Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye," "Oz," "Chicken Soup for the Soul," "Diagnosis Murder," "ER," "North and South" and "How Stella Got Her Groove Back."
The Broadway production of Chicago currently features Bebe Neuwirth as Roxie Hart, Brenda Braxton as Velma Kelly, Rob Bartlett as Amos Hart, Roz Ryan as Matron "Mama" Morton and R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine.
Chicago won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical in 1997 as well as awards for actors Bebe Neuwirth and James Naughton, director Walter Bobbie, lighting designer Ken Billington and choreographer Ann Reinking. The original production was directed and choreographed by the late Bob Fosse.
Chicago plays the Ambassador Theatre, located at 215 West 49th Street.
