News Cheyenne Jackson to Star in Indie Film "The Song" Cheyenne Jackson has landed the starring role in "The Song," a new independent drama about a songwriter who enters a reality television competition, according to Deadline.com.

Jackson (Finian's Rainbow, Xanadu, "Behind the Candelabra," "United 93") will play Ben Cantor, who enters a songwriting reality show contest despite concerns from his friends and family. The film is expected to incorporate original music.

"The Song" is written by David Kauffman and directed by Andy Lauer. Filming begins this month in San Antonio, NM.

As previously reported, Jackson will star in the New York City Center Encores! production of Frank Loesser’s The Most Happy Fella in April 2014.
