Chicago Curtains Has Fortunato, Scrofano, Corti and More, Opening March 19

News   Chicago Curtains Has Fortunato, Scrofano, Corti and More, Opening March 19

The first post-Broadway production of the whodunit musical Curtains will be unveiled March 19 at Drury Lane Oakbrook in suburban Chicago. The production will feature Chicago favorites including Sean Fortunato, Jim Corti and Nancy Voigts.

Opening for the musical by Rupert Holmes (book and additional lyrics), John Kander (music and additional lyrics) and Fred Ebb (lyrics) will be March 16, for a run through May 17. Peter Stone was the original book writer. Both he and Ebb did not live to see their show bow on Broadway in the 2006-07 season. Curtains earned eight 2007 Tony Award nominations including Best Musical, Best Book, Best Score, and Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical (David Hyde Pierce, who won the award).

A play within a play, Curtains takes place backstage at Boston's Colonial Theatre in 1959. The untalented leading lady of the tryout musical Robbin' Hood of the Old West has been murdered. A show-tune-loving detective arrives to solve the crime — and save the musical.

Jeff Award-winning director William Brown makes his Drury Lane directorial debut with Curtains. His cast includes Sean Fortunato as Lieutenant Frank Cioffi, Nancy Voigts as Carmen Bernstein, Christine Sherrill as Georgia Hendricks, James Rank as Aaron Fox, Jessie Mueller as Niki Harris, Jeff Cummings as Daryl Grady, John Reeger as Christopher Belling, Eric Parks as Johnny Harmon, Mark David Kaplan as Oscar Shapiro, Michael Parker Ayers as Bobby Pepper, Jim Corti as Sidney Bernstein, Nicole Hren as Bambi Bernet, Gary Carlson as Detective O'Farrell, Paula Scrofano as Jessica Cranshaw, Matt Raftery as Randy Dexter, Joey Stone as Harv Fremont as well as ensemble members Jarret Ditch, Stephane Duret, Michael Glazer, Cessalee Martinez, Katheryn Patton, Andrea Prestinario and Angie Schoofs.

Drury Lane Oakbrook is located at 100 Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace, IL.
