Classic Arts News Chicago Lyric Names Production and Technical Directors The Lyric Opera of Chicago has appointed Peter Schwob its technical director and Scott Marr its production design director, the company announced.
The two replace Drew Landmesser, currently the Lyric's production and technical director, who will leave to become director of production at San Francisco Opera on May 1.

Schwob was the Lyric's assistant technical director from 1995 to 1999, when he left to become technical director of Chicago's Goodman Theatre. Since 2004, he has been production manager at Chicago Opera Theater.

In his new position, he will oversee stage management, lighting, scenery, and other technical aspects of production.

Marr has been the Lyric's resident design associate since 1999. He joined the company as an intern in 1990 and became a design and technical assistant in 1993.

In the newly created position of production design director, he will manage wigs, makeup, wardrobe, props, scenic art, and armor, working with visiting stage directors and designers. He will also act as production designer for revivals and rented productions.

"I am extremely pleased these fine professionals have accepted these important positions," said general director William Mason. "Peter returns to Lyric with impressive new credentials, and Scott has been a valued member of the technical team for many years. The fact that they have worked so well together in the past is an added bonus for Lyric; everyone in the company looks forward to this new collaboration."
