The Chicago sit-down production of Spamilton, a musical parody of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Tony- and Pulitzer Prize-winning hit Hamilton, will end its run at the Royal George Theatre October 8 after seven months of performances.
Written by Forbidden Broadway creator Gerard Alessandrini, Spamilton premiered Off-Broadway in July 2016 for an 18-performance engagement at the Triad Theatre. It swiftly extended, and later transferred to an open-ended run at the Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre where it continues to play.
Spamilton opened in Chicago March 12, 2017, for a 10-week run at Royal George Theatre’s Cabaret/Studio Theatre, where it was also extended. Tickets are now on sale for the final weeks of the Chicago engagement that will close October 8.
The musical will next play Los Angeles, running November 5–December 31 at the Center Theatre Group.
