News Chicago's Free Associates To Spoof Brian Friel, Beginning Mar. 7 CHICAGO -- A local improv troupe, The Free Associates, has been carving out a theatrical niche with literary parodies of Tennessee Williams (Cast on a Hot Tin Roof), Shakespeare As We Like It: Shakespeare In Your Face), Emily Bronte (Blithering Heights), David Mamet (The Scryptogram) and Bible epics (The Greatest Story Never Told).

CHICAGO -- A local improv troupe, The Free Associates, has been carving out a theatrical niche with literary parodies of Tennessee Williams (Cast on a Hot Tin Roof), Shakespeare As We Like It: Shakespeare In Your Face), Emily Bronte (Blithering Heights), David Mamet (The Scryptogram) and Bible epics (The Greatest Story Never Told). Beginning March 7, the Associates turn their spoofery to Brian Friel and his theatrical genre: Chancing at Lunacy: The Completely Improvised Irish Country Play will attempt to fill a satirical void that is presently nonexistent.
