Classic Arts News Chicago's Symphony Center Announces Upcoming Season Chicago's Symphony Center, the home of the Chicago Symphony, will host a varied lineup of visiting classical and world music artists, including Ravi Shankar, the Vienna Choir Boys, Paco de Luc‹a, Evgeny Kissin, and Alfred Brendel, during the 2006-07 season.
Highlights include music of Sibelius and Shostakovich performed by conductor Mariss Jansons and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in their first Chicago appearance in more than 20 years and a trio performance with Gil Shaham, Truls Mêªrk, and Yefim Bronfman.

There will also be an all-Mozart program with pianist Emanuel Ax and the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra; a week-long residency by Yo-Yo Ma and his Silk Road Ensemble; and chamber music with pianist Lang Lang and musicians from the Chicago Symphony.

The piano series features recitals by Imogen Cooper, Fazil Say, Andr_ Watts, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Alfred Brendel, Emanuel Ax, Lars Vogt, Evgeny Kissin, Maurizio Pollini, and Pierre-Laurent Aimard.

Other instrumentalists scheduled to perform include violinists Anne-Sophie Mutter and Nadja Salerno Sonnenberg.

World music and dance performers include the Soweto Gospel Choir, the Bayanihan Philippine National Dance Company, Mombasa Party and the Royal Drummers of Burundi, and Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano.
