The two-month-old Theatre S3, a mere babe in the woods of the Chicago theatre scene, is presenting its first production, Edward Albee's early one-act The American Dream. The play will begin performances on July 9 at the Victory Gardens Theater/Downstairs Studio (2257 N. Lincoln Ave.). The official opening of July 16. No closing date has been announced. Theatre S3 is dedicated to the presentation of modern classics. The American Dream is one of Albee's early, absurdist works, written in 1961, before the phenomenal success of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?. The Chicago cast includes Laura Bailey, Bill Harrison, Deborah Frieden, Sondra Sellars, and Anthony Woods. Victor D'Altorio directs.
