The world premiere of Proof of Love, by Chisa Hutchinson, opens at Off-Broadway's Minetta Lane Theatre May 14. The new solo play tells the story of a woman whose happy life and upper-class Black family is splintered by a sudden and tragic accident.

Proof of Love is co-presented by Audible and New York Theatre Workshop and is directed by Jade King Carroll. Brenda Pressley stars as Constance, who has come to visit a loved one at the hospital. As she attempts to piece together the decisions that led to this moment, Constance is forced to re-evaluate her own prejudices within the Black community.

Performances of Proof of Love began May 7 .

The play is the inaugural production to come out of Audible's Emerging Playwright program, which currently includes 25 commissions. As with previous Audible productions at the Minetta Lane, the play will be recorded and released as an audio play.

The production's creative team is made up of Alexis Distler (scenic design), Jen Caprio (costume design), Mary Louise Geiger (lighting design), Justin Ellington (sound design), and Nikiya Mathis (hair and wig design).
