She received a Tony nomination for the last Broadway Cabaret revival, and she starred in the film version of A Chorus Line. Now Alyson Reed has turned to directing, and she's mounting the world premiere of Pamela Hayden's Send Chocolate & Marlboros at the Road Theatre in North Hollywood, CA.

Hayden stars in the autobiographical solo piece, which centers on her extremely unhappy childhood. First she was sent to a boarding school meant to "reform" her, then she was falsely accused of a serious crime that put her in juvenile jail with hardcore criminals.

As an adult, Hayden's theatre work has included West Coast productions of Danny and the Deep Blue Sea and The Rimers of Eldritch, but she's perhaps best known as the voice of Milhouse, Bart's best friend on TV's "The Simpsons."

Opening June 11 for a run through July 17, Send Chocolates & Marlboros plays at the Road Theatre, 5108 Lankershim Blvd. For tickets ($15) and information call (213) 660-8587.
