The National Alliance for Musical Theatre presents the annual festival for industry members, which showcases eight new musicals in 45-minute staged readings. A host of Broadway veterans populate the presentations that will be offered Oct. 21-22.
Big Red Sun will feature Bradley Dean (A Little Night Music), Danielle Ferland (Into the Woods), Parker Pogue, Eric Anderson (South Pacific), Rachel Coloff (Fiddler on the Roof) and Michael Kostroff ("The Wire"). Peter Flynn will direct.
The Bowery Boys cast will include Curtis Holbrook (Xanadu), Carrie Manolakos (Mamma Mia!), John Cudia (Phantom of the Opera), Kathy Voytko (Nine), Cullen R. Titmus (Avenue Q), Adam Kantor (Rent), Morgan Karr (Spring Awakening), Nate Lewellyn, Max Quinlan and Andrew Redlawsk. Dominic Missimi is the director.
The cast of The Giver will feature Terrence Mann (The Addams Family), Stanley Bahorek (Spelling Bee), Vivienne Cleary, Carmen Ruby Flloyd (Avenue Q), Jaimie Kelton, Justin Keyes (Mary Poppins), Heather Matarazzo ("The Princess Diaries"), Mike Masters (Face The Music ) and Eliseo Roman (In The Heights). Pam Berlin will direct.
Tony Award-nominated director Christopher Ashley will stage Heartbreakers, featuring Rachel deBenedet (Catch Me If You Can), Patti Murin (Xanadu), Christian Hoff (Jersey Boys) , Nancy Opel (Urinetown), Stephanie D’Abruzzo (Avenue Q), Kevin Ligon (Finian’s Rainbow), T. Oliver Reid (Mary Poppins), Lisa Rothauser (The Producers) and Jason Michael Snow (South Pacific). The cast of Lizzie Borden will include Jenny Fellner (Pal Joey, Wicked), Marie France Arcilla (Working), Beth Malone (Ring of Fire) and Carrie Cimma under the direction of Victoria Bussert.
Sally Mayes (Closer Than Ever), Nancy Anderson (Yank!), Michael McGuirk (Sessions), Caesar Samayoa (Hot Feet) and Michael Buchanan (Addams Family) will be part of Play It Cool. Sharon Rosen will direct.
The cast of Red Clay will feature C. Kelly Wright, Kenita R. Miller (Xanadu), J. Bernard Calloway (Memphis), William Jackson Harper (Ruined), Michael Genet (Fences), Herndon Lackey (Parade), Tyrick Wiltez Jones (Finian’s Rainbow), Arbender Robinson (The Little Mermaid), Chauncey Bellamy and Marci Henderson. Broadway veteran Jerry Dixon will direct.
Tony Award-winning actress Victoria Clark will stage The Trouble With Doug, which will feature Barbara Walsh (Company), Matthew Hydzik (West Side Story), Lindsay Mendez (Everyday Rapture) and Jason "SweetTooth" Williams (Bloodsong of Love).
