Whorl Inside a Loop, a new play written by Scott and Dick Scanlan, officially opened at Off-Broadway's Second Stage Theatre August 27, 2015, following previews that began August 4. The premiere was co-directed by Michael Mayer and Scanlan — the creative team behind the Tony-nominated Everyday Rapture.

Inspired by real-life experiences, the play follows a celebrity actress into a men's maximum security prison for community service. Through teaching them theatre, she unexpectedly forms a close bond with the incarcerated men and gives them the power to tell their stories.
