Manhattan Theatre Club honors two-time Tony winner Nathan Lane at its 2016 fall benefit November 21 at 583 Park Avenue in New York. The two-time Tony winner is back on Broadway in the revival of The Front Page, now playing at The Broadhurst Theatre.
The evening features a star-studded lineup of Lane’s colleagues and friends, including Tony winner and Golden Globe nominee Christine Baranski, playwright Terrence McNally, The Front Page co-star John Slattery, and Tony winners Brian Dennehy and Matthew Broderick.
Also joining them are Jenni Barber, Mike Birbiglia, Mark Linn-Baker, Andrea Martin, Jack O’Brien, Seth Rudetsky, Lewis J. Stadlen, and Susan Stroman. Jerry Zaks is directing the benefit, with a creative team made up of Justin Townsend (lighting designer), Dan Gerhard (sound designer), and Jason Michael Webb (musical director).
Lane, who served on MTC’s Board of Directors from 1994-2007, has starred in six plays produced by the Broadway and Off-Broadway company: Claptrap; The Lisbon Traviata; Bad Habits; Lips Together, Teeth Apart; Love! Valour! Compassion!; and Mizlansky/Zilinsky or "Schmucks."
MTC’s fall benefit kicks off with cocktails followed by dinner and a tribute to Lane. All proceeds from the event benefit the theatre. Sue Bovenkerk Slager, Sharon Sullivan, Lisa Towbin, and Susan Winter are co-chairs of the evening.
