Classic Arts News   Christine Brewer Sings Her First Staged Isolde at San Francisco Opera

Christine Brewer makes her stage debut in one of the most daunting roles in the soprano repertory this evening, as San Francisco Opera opens its new production of Wagner's Tristan und Isolde.

The staging, originally from Los Angeles Opera, is directed by Thor Steingraber, with production design by the renowned artist David Hockney. Thomas Moser takes the role of Tristan, with Jane Irwin (in her company debut) as Brang‹ne, Boaz Daniel (also in his first appearance with the company) as Kurwenal and Kristinn Sigmundsson as King Marke. San Francisco Opera music director Donald Runnicles conducts.

There will be seven performances of Tristan from tonight through October 27. For more information about this and other San Francisco Opera productions, visit www.sfopera.com.
