News Christine Lahti to Star in "The Doctor" Pilot for CBS Veteran stage and screen actress Christine Lahti, who won Emmy and Golden Globe awards for playing a doctor in "Chicago Hope," will again take a medical role in "The Doctor," a new pilot for CBS, according to tvguide.com.

Lahti will play a mother who joins the family medical practice alongside her adult children.

Rina Mimoun wrote the pilot, which will be directed by David Nutter.

Lahti's stage credits include The Heidi Chronicles, Loose Ends, Present Laughter, Scenes and Revelations and Division Street on Broadway; Body of Water, Little Murders (Obie Award), Three Hotels (Drama Desk nom), Landscape of the Body and The Woods (Theatre World Award); and, more recently, Love, Loss and What I Wore and Third in Los Angeles. She is an Academy Award winner for directing the short film "Lieberman in Love," an Oscar nominee for acting in the film "Swing Shift," and a Golden Globe nominee for "Running on Empty" and "Amerika," among other screen credits.
