The veteran actor will be presented with the award at the 2017 Canadian Screen Awards, which will be broadcast on CBC March 12. The awards celebrate Canadian productions and talent who excel in front of the camera and behind-the-scenes in Canadian film, television, and digital media.
“Christopher Plummer is one of the greatest actors of his generation, who has delighted audiences with his iconic performances. We are elated to have him as this year’s distinct guest of honor,” said Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television chair Martin Katz in a statement.
Plummer, who was raised in Montréal, is a two-time Tony winner for his performances in Cyrano and Barrymore. He won an Academy Award for his work in Beginners. He is perhaps best known for his performance in the musical film The Sound of Music, playing Captain Von Trapp.
