News Christopher Renshaw Will Direct New Version of Jekyll & Hyde Musical in Australia Australian theatre producer John Frost and Opera Australia artistic director Lyndon Terracini will present a new version of the musical thriller Jekyll & Hyde in Australia late in 2015.

Christopher Renshaw will direct the production, which will feature designs by Gabriela Tylesova. Casting and performance dates will be announced later.

Based on the novel "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" by Robert Louis Stevenson, Jekyll & Hyde was conceived for the stage by Frank Wildhorn and Steve Cuden, and features music by Wildhorn, a book by Leslie Bricusse and lyrics by Wildhorn, Bricusse and Cuden.

Songs from the musical include "Someone Like You," "In His Eyes" and the anthem "This Is the Moment."

“After a meeting with John Frost and sparked by his enthusiasm for a reimagined Jekyll & Hyde, we agreed to take another look at our work. We are thrilled that John and Lyndon are going to produce our new Jekyll & Hyde in Australia," Bricusse and Wildhorn stated.

Following a 30-city tour, the original Broadway production opened at The Plymouth Theatre April 28, 1997, and earned four Tony Award nominations. Directed by Robin Phillips and choreographed by Joey Pizzi, the production starred Robert Cuccioli, Linda Eder and Christianne Noll. After 1,543 performances and featuring such replacements as Sebastian Bach and David Hasselhoff in the title role, the production played its final performance  Jan. 7, 2001. Constantine Maroulis and Deborah Cox starred in the 2013 Broadway revival of Jekyll & Hyde, which played 15 previews and 30 regular performances at the Marquis Theatre.
