Ciara Renée, who has been seen on Broadway in Big Fish and Pippin, as well as Off-Broadway in the revival of Jonathan Larson’s musical tick, tick...BOOM!, has joined the cast of Lizzie in Chicago. Following a break over the holidays, the hit rock musical will return for an additional two weeks January 3–14.

Firebrand Theatre’s Lizzie is currently playing through December 17 at The Den Theatre's Bookspan Theatre. The extension will feature original cast members Liz Chidester as Lizzie, Leah Davis as Bridget, and Jacquelyne Jones as Alice with newcomer Renée as Emma.

Lizzie re-imagines the 19th century legend of Lizzie Borden, who murdered her parents with an axe, with four women fronting a female rock band.

Directed by Victoria Bussert with music direction by Andra Velis Simon, Lizzie features music by Steven Cheslik-deMeyer and Alan Stevens Hewitt, lyrics by Cheslik-deMeyer and Tim Maner, book by Maner, additional music by Maner, and additional lyrics by Hewitt. The musical is based on an original concept by Cheslik-deMeyer and Maner, with orchestrations by Hewitt.

The production team also includes Eleanor Kahn (scenic design), Charlotte M. Yetman (costume design), Maya Michele Fein (lighting design), Victoria Deiorio (sound design), Jon Martinez (assistant director), Danielle Stack (production manager), and Jean E. Compton (stage manager).

Firebrand Theatre is a Chicago-based musical theatre company whose mission is to employ and empower women on and off the stage. For more information and to purchase tickets to Lizzie, visit Firebrandtheatre.org.
