Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park presents the world premiere of Kieth Glover's In Walks Ed, subtitled "The Essence of Soul in a Late Night Mode" beginning previews Feb. 11 and running Feb. 13-Mar. 9.
In Walks Ed established Glover with playwrights Jeffrey Hatcher, Carter W.Lewis and others, as the play won him the ninth annual Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park's Lois and Richard Rosenthal New Play Prize.
The award guarantees the playwright residency at the theatre for the rehearsal process and a full production. During the time of rehearsal, the cast participates in the play's development. Mr. Glover also directs the production.
In Walks Ed is an action comedy which takes place in a Harlem Bar, where humor, streetwise poetry and bluesy rhythms provide the means for two men to learn about love, power, and the blues.
Glover's work has recently received much regional attention. After the success of his The Coming of the Hurricane over the past two seasons, this season, Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Baltimore Center Stage and Dallas Theatre Center all shared the world premiere of Thunder Knocking at the Door, which will later be produced by Yale Repertory Theatre. Glover's first play, Dancing on Moonlight, was produced last year at the New York Shakespeare Festival.
Tickets to In Walks Ed are available by calling (800) 582-3208, and for more information about the show and the season at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, refer to the regional listing on Playbill On-Line.
