On October 19, Cirque du Soleil, the surreal Canadian based, acrobatic troupe premiered their latest project O, at the new Bellagio resort in Las Vegas.

O is inspired by the concept of infinity, the circle of life and the elegance of its pure form - "O" phonetically is the French word for water (spelled "eau"). O utilizes 1.5 million gallons of water, in a stage specially designed for the demands of the production. The show features 75 performers from around the world.

Franco Dragone created and directed the piece, his sixth production for The Cirque (founded in 1984). The production also features choreography by Debra Brown, music composed by Benoit Jutras, lighting design by Luc Lafortune, sets by Michel Crete, costumes by Dominique Lemieux and sound by Francois Bergeron and Jonathan Deans.

Earlier this summer (Aug. 5), The Cirque announced it would be creating a new show for Disney World (in Florida) that would become a permanent attraction for the theme park. O marks the second Vegas show for the troupe, with its Mysterie still running in Vegas.
