News City Center Celebrates Carol Channing's 75th Anniversary of Stage Debut with Podcast New York City Center is celebrating the 75th anniversary of Carol Channing's New York stage debut with a podcast entitled "Carol Channing on Auditions, Communists, and Her Stage Debut."

The podcast coincides with Channing's stage debut, which occurred Jan. 5, 1941, in a City Center production of No for an Answer.

City Center describes Marc Blitzstein's No for an Answer as a "'militant operetta' about love, murder, and unionization set in a Greek luncheonette… The audience sat in folding chairs, the stage was bare, and Blitzstein himself played the piano."
