Classic Arts News City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra to Produce Podcasts The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra has announced that it will become the first major orchestra to launch its own monthly podcasts.
Each month, former BBC Radio 3 presenter Tommy Pearson will introduce regular discussions and features, including a guide to different sections of the orchestra. He will be joined by special guests, including soloists with the CBSO.

The podcasts will also feature the insights of critic and broadcaster Stephen Johnson into the major works performed by the CBSO this season.

There will be a "podcast panel," with two members of a CBSO concert audience reviewing a recording, broadcast or live performance. The amateur critics will also interview special guests.

There will also be a chance to win tickets to a live CBSO concert at Symphony Hall.

This month's podcast includes an interview with chief conductor Sakari Oramo (who recently announced that he will step down from the post) and a "Guide to the Orchestra" feature about double basses.

The free downloads, available beginning this month, can be downloaded through the CBSO website, www.cbso.co.uk.
