The Cleveland Orchestra has appointed Frank Rosenwein as principal oboist, Marisela Sager as assistant principal flute, and Alicia Koelz as a member of the first violin section, the orchestra announced.

Rosenwein previously served as principal oboist of the San Diego Symphony and San Diego Opera. Sager comes from the Baltimore Symphony; Koelz was concertmaster of the Chicago Civic Orchestra and a substitute with the Chicago Symphony.

The orchestra also announced the retirements of Ronald Bishop, principal tuba player since 1967; John Rautenberg, a member of the flute section since 1961 and associate principal since 1967; James Darling, a member of the trumpet section since 1973; and Keiko Furiyoshi, a member of the violin section since 1971.
