President Bill Clinton will attend a June 28 matinee of Broadway's The Iceman Cometh as part of a Democratic Party fundraiser, with tickets ranging $1,000-$50,000 per couple.

The event, which is open to well-heeled theatregoers and Democratic boosters, will benefit the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) and Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC).

The president is expected to meet with the cast of Iceman, including Kevin Spacey, sometime during the day, according to Holly Armstrong of the DSCC. First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton, thought to be poised to run for U.S. Senate in New York, is not scheduled to attend, "but that doesn't mean she won't," Armstrong said.

"We are very pleased to join with our Senate colleagues in hosting this special performance," said DCCC Chairman Patrick Kennedy (D-RI). "With the help of Kevin Spacey and this wonderful cast, we look forward to an unforgettable evening -- and a big boost in our effort to regain the majority next year."

The performance will begin at 3 PM at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, 256 West 47th Street in New York City. This is the fifth event organized by Majority 2000, a joint fundraising project that enlists the help of President Clinton in seeking to raise $9 million for the House and Senate campaign committees this year.

Proceeds from Majority 2000 events will be evenly divided between the two committees as they work to elect Democratic majorities in Congress next year. For ticket information, call John Del Cecato (DCCC) at 202 863-1500 or Holly Armstrong (DSCC) at 202-224-2447.
