Legendary singer Rosemary Clooney and singer/pianist Michael Feinstein will be the premiere artists to perform at Manhattan's newest intimate nightclub of choice, Feinstein's at the Regency, this fall. On Oct. 5, "Feinstein's" becomes the evening incarnation of the Regency's popular 540 Park Restaurant, which is located at the corner of Park Avenue and 61 Street.
The new club, described as a "classic, intimate nightclub," has 150 seats. While the room is essentially unchanged from what it was, additional lighting and a new sound system have been installed to facilitate music performances.
"We also bring the nightclub tables in each afternoon after they clear the breakfast and lunch tables," explained Regency spokesperson Tiffany Andrews. "Then Michael's Baldwin Piano is put on stage and the band sets up."
540 Park's daytime patrons should not expect too much disruption due to the nightclub operation.
"Lunch will be served until 2 PM," Andrews added, "and when the last guest has been served we simply set up for the evening."
Beginning Oct. 5-16, Rosemary Clooney performs a nightly dinner show, Tues.-Sat. at 8:30 PM. Following Ms. Clooney's engagement, beginning Oct. 19-Nov. 13, Michael Feinstein is scheduled to perform twice nightly, Tues.-Sat., first at the 8:30 PM dinner show and again at an 11 PM supper show.
Tickets are still available for both artists, although the Regency has informed Playbill On-Line that the Rosemary Clooney show is quickly selling out. Tickets for Rosemary Clooney and Michael Feinstein are available on Ticketmaster's Broadway Performing Arts Line at (212) 307 4100. Prices are $60 per person, with a $50 dinner show minimum and a $25 supper show minimum.
