Plays in the festival will include Jordan Harrison's Amazons and Their Men, Karl Gajdusek's Greedy and an opening-night show entitled America! The 50 States of our Union.
Clubbed Thumb is also currently accepting proposals for its second Clubbed Thumb Biennial Commission, which awards $15,000 to write and develop a play based upon the company's guidelines. Gajdusek's Greedy was the first commission.
In addition, on March 31 the company will see the release of "Funny, Strange, Provocative: Seven Plays from Clubbed Thumb," a Playscripts, Inc. anthology of selected plays produced by the company. Oskar Eustis, the Public Theater's artistic director, wrote the forward.
The plays included are The Typographer's Dream by Adam Bock, Crumble (Lay Me Down, Justin Timberlake) by Sheila Callaghan, Demon Baby by Erin Courtney, 16 Spells to Charm the Beast by Lisa D'Amour, Inky by Rinne Groff, Dearest Eugenia Haggis by Anne Marie Healy and Freakshow by Carson Kreitzer.
In its 11 years, Clubbed Thumb, which develops and presents "funny, strange and provocative new plays by living American writers," has produced over 60 full productions, which have been awarded three Obie Awards. The Ohio Theatre is located at 66 Wooster Street between Spring and Broome. For more information visit www.clubbedthumb.org.
