Producer Cameron Mackintosh has announced that the hit musical Les Miserables is returning for a limited engagement to Toronto's Princess of Wales Theatre, beginning July 21, 1998.

The production will feature Colm Wilkinson, reprising the role of Jean Valjean. Wilkinson has not played the part since leaving the original Broadway Company in 1987 and Toronto will be the only city in which he will perform it.

Wilkinson was last seen in Toronto at the Pantages Theatre in The Phantom of the Opera, where he played the disfigured liedmeister for five years. Toronto's Phantom celebrated its eighth anniversary last month.
