Colorado Ballet has been contacted by 25 applicants for its vacant artistic director position, the Rocky Mountain News reports.

The response has comes despite the fact that the company has not made a public request for applications since Martin Fredmann left the company in October.

The company has not made the names of any of the candidates public, but according to the News, the search committee has already met with Karl Condon, the associate director of Ballet Memphis, and will talk to former American Ballet Theatre principal dancer Gil Boggs today.

The committee includes current and former dancers, a musician, and company officials.

Fredmann, the Colorado Ballet's artistic director for the last 19 years, resigned angrily on October 11 after the company attempted to ease him into an emeritus position.
