Jack Finlaw, director of Denver's theaters and arenas, told the News that tickets for those performances had been selling poorly.
For the 24 remaining Nutcracker performances, the company has agreed to pay its fees to the city in advance.
The company is currently paying debts from performances earlier this season, and is recovering from the abrupt departure of artistic director Martin Fredmann, who declined to accept an emeritus position with the company's board decided to replace him.
