Rock first came to national prominence as a cast member of "Saturday Night Live" (1990-1993) and has since gone on to star in HBO comedy specials and movies, including "Grown Ups," "The Longest Yard" and "2 Days in New York."

He starred on Broadway in 2011 as an AA sponsor with an agenda in Stephen Adly Guirgis' drama The Motherfu**er with the Hat with Bobby Cannavale and Annabella Sciorra. It earned Rock a Drama League Award nomination.

The 88th Academy Awards will be presented Feb. 28, 2016. David Hill and Reginald Hudlin will produce the awards ceremony, which will air on ABC.

They replace Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, who hosted for the past several years, and brought Broadway stars Neil Patrick Harris and Hugh Jackman to the podium.
