This past March, Irish comedy favorite Niall Toibín was featured in the Irish Arts Center's Second Annual International Irish Comedy Festival. Now the comedic performer is scheduled to return to the Off-Broadway venue with "The Revenge Tour," arriving Sept. 12-30, again under the aegis of the Irish Comedy Festival.
[Editors' Note: All New York theatrical performances are currently suspended owing to terrorist attacks, made Sept. 11, on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. All Wednesday matinees are cancelled; theatres are awaiting word from Mayor Rudolph Giuliani regarding Sept. 12 evening performances. Please call the theatres for the latest information.]
Toibín's numerous roles in the theatre include his Broadway portrayal of Brendan Behan in the Tony Award-winning production of Borstal Boy. In addition to film roles, his one-man shows have been well received. According to spokespersons at the Pete Sanders Group, Toibin's March run at the Irish Arts Center was sold out.
The previous comedy fest also featured the troupe Après Match and Irish writer Patrick McCabe.
