A weekly column of major cast changes on Broadway.

As widely reported last week, Ann Reinking has returned to the role of Roxie Hart in the white-hot Chicago. The actress had taken an extended, injury-induced hiatus from the show. The occasion of Reinking's return is an ideal opportunity to report on the future of the musical revival's four stars - Reinking, Bebe Neuwirth, James Naughton, and Joel Grey. According to a press representative, the only performer expected to leave in the near future will be Reinking, who will depart in mid-June.

Although this column doesn't ordinarily cover touring productions, it's hard to resist a mention of Chicago's national tour, whose Roxie Hart, Charlotte d'Amboise, has been sidelined by a knee injury suffered during the show's first tour stop in Cincinnati. d'Amboise is currently in New York getting physical therapy and waiting for her tendonitis to subside. In the meantime, understudy Belle Calaway has earned good notices from critics in the production's second tour stop at the National Theater in Washington, D.C.

Finally, Marilyn Cooper has returned to the role of Miss Lynch in Grease, replacing Mimi Hines. Cooper played the role of Rydell High's favorite teacher earlier in the production's run, prior to its winter hiatus.
