News Complete Casting Announced for London Fringe Revival of Bells are Ringing Bells Are Ringing, the 1956 Broadway classic with music by Jule Styne and book and lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, has announced the full company for its run at London's Union Theatre, beginning performances Sept. 29, prior to an official opening Oct. 1, for a run through Oct. 23.

The previously announced Anna-Jane Casey, who will play Ella Peterson, and Gary Milner (who plays playwright Jeff Moss that she falls for) will be joined by Marc Antolin (Paul Arnold), Carl Au (Carl), Michael Bryher (Francis), Fenton Gray (Sandor), Richard Grieve (Inspector Barnes), Bob Harms (Larry Hastings), Victoria Hinde (Olga), Aoife Nally (Gwynne), Tama Phethean (Blake Barton), Corinna Powlesland (Sue), Adam Rhys-Charles (Kitchell), Laura Selwood (Ensemble) and Sasi Strallen (Ensemble).

The role of Ella was famously originated by Judy Holliday onstage and in the subsequent 1960 film version. She works at Susanswerphone, an answering service for celebrities on New York's East Side. With plenty of opportunities to indulge her gift for “helping” others, events begin to spiral out of control as Ella falls for hard-drinking playwright Jeff Moss (Gary Milner) and her little white lies come back to haunt her.

Directed by Paul Foster, this new production is produced by Jonathan Russell Productions. It is designed by Christopher Giles, with musical direction and arrangements by Peter McCarthy, choreography by Alistair David and lighting by Tim Mascall.

Casey originated the role of Dot in the Menier Chocolate Factory's production of Sunday in the Park with George but was succeeded by Jenna Russell, who took over for the show's West End and Broadway runs. West End credits include playing Velma Kelly in Chicago, and regionally she has won the TMA Award for Best Actress in a Musical for Mack and Mabel.

Milner appeared in the West End in the last London production of Evita as Magaldi, and at the Donmar Warehouse in Parade and A Streetcar Named Desire. Bells are Ringing received a Broadway revival in 2001, when it starred Faith Prince as Ella. It was originally produced in the West End in 1957 at the London Colliseum, with a cast led by Janet Blair as Ella.
