News   Complete Casting Announced for NYC Revival of Caryl Churchill's Cloud Nine Atlantic Theater Company has announced complete casting for the first production of its 30th anniversary season, Obie Award winner Caryl Churchill's landmark play Cloud Nine, which will begin previews Sept. 16 prior to an official opening Oct. 5 at the Linda Gross Theater.

Directed by James Macdonald, the limited engagement will continue through Nov. 1.

The cast will comprise Brooke Bloom, Sean Dugan, Lucy Owen, Chris Perfetti, John Sanders, Izzie Steele and Clarke Thorell.

"Set in colonial Africa and 1979 London," Cloud Nine, according to press notes, "is about power, politics, family, Queen Victoria and sex." This modern classic has not been seen in a major New York production since 1981, when it ran for over two years.

Prolific English playwright Churchill has been honored with Obie Awards for her plays Top Girls, A Number and Cloud Nine; a Lucille Lortel Award for Owners; and Drama Desk Award nominations for The Skriker and Mad Forest. Her Broadway plays include Top Girls and Serious Money. She reunites with Macdonald, who staged her acclaimed play Love and Information at the Royal Court Theatre and Off-Broadway.

Cloud Nine will feature scenic design by Dane Laffrey, costume design by Gabriel Berry, lighting design by Scott Zielinksi, sound design by Darron L West and casting by Telsey + Company.

Atlantic Theater Company’s Linda Gross Theater is located at 336 West 20 Street (between 8th and 9th Avenues). Regular tickets start at $65.
