Composer-lyricist Adam Guettel will sing selections from his works, including Floyd Collins, Myths and Hymns and A Light in the Piazza, his next musical, May 12 at New York City's Town Hall. Special guests include Kristen Chenoweth (You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown), Theresa McCarthy (Titanic), Audra McDonald (Ragtime), Billy Porter (Miss Saigon) and Jubilant Sykes. Ted Sperling musical directs.
Guettel first attracted attention with his collaboration with Tina Landau, Floyd Collins, a musical based on the historical events resulting from a Kentucky caver's entrapment in a cave. The Lucille Lortel and Obie Award-winning piece is currently receiving a production in Chicago at the Goodman Theater. Other musicals include Off-Broadway's Saturn Returns (retitled Myths and Hymns for its recently released recording) and Piazza, based on an Elizabeth Spencer love story.
