News Concert of Jewsical to Precede Spring Off-Broadway Run A concert version of Jewsical the Chosen Musical will be presented Jan. 13 at 7 PM at the Studio at Theater Row.

Jewsical, which will open at an Off-Broadway theatre to be announced this spring, features music by Marvin Laird and book, lyrics and direction by Joal Paley. Laird and Paley previously collaborated on the Off-Broadway hit Ruthless! A.C. Ciulla will choreograph, and the concert cast is set to include Toni Carington, April Henry, David Ruffin, Craig Sculli and Adam Shapiro.

“He wants to be in show business. They want a Jew. His name is Christian Von Trapp. Oy!” reads press notes for the “revue-iscle.” Song titles include “Yinglish 101,” “I’m Farblondget and Farplotzed,” “Borscht Belt Betty” and “Yenta from Tellabenda.”
