News Concertizing Audra McDonald to Miss Four Days of Raisin Audra McDonald, the Tony-nominated star of the current Broadway revival of A Raisin in the Sun, will miss the June 2, 4, 8 and 10 evening performances and the June 2 matinee of the Royale Theatre production, according to Telecharge.com.

On those dates, McDonald will be premiering "The Seven Deadly Sins," a long-planned new song cycle, at Carnegie Hall's Zankel Hall. Performing in her place at Raisin will be Heather Sims.

McDonald has been nominated for a Tony Award for her performance as Ruth Younger, wife to Sean Combs' Walter Lee Younger. Three-time Tony-winner McDonald (Carousel, Master Class, Ragtime) played the supporting role of Hotspur's wife in last fall's acclaimed Lincoln Center production of Henry IV. That was her non-singing Broadway debut. (Though Master Class was a play, the central aspect of McDonald's performance was the delivery of an operatic aria.) Her other theatre credits include Marie Christine.
