The American Songbook concerts, a collaboration between New Jersey public television and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, will air on NJTV and THIRTEEN. In addition to the performances, the broadcasts feature a Q&A session conducted by Ted Chapin, president and executive director of Rodgers & Hammerstein: An Imagen Company. The evening with Grammy nominee and Broadway star Maureen McGovern premieres Feb. 18 at 8 PM on NJTV and April 11 at 1 PM on THIRTEEN. McGovern, according to press notes, "takes the audience on a journey through some of the great music of the 60s and 70s." Songs include “America”, “Old Friends," “The Times They Are a Changing," “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” and classic Jimmy Webb compositions “By the Time I Get to Phoenix,” “MacArthur Park” and “The Moon is a Harsh Witness."
The concert with Hairspray Tony winners Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman premieres Feb. 25 at 8 PM on NJTV and April 18 at 1 PM on THIRTEEN. Shaiman and Wittman are joined by Marilyn Maye, Micailah Lockhart, Alex Stone and Annie Golden.
