News Condon and Mark to Bring "The Song Is You" to Film Academy Award-winning director and screenwriter Bill Condon and producer Larry Mark are at work adapting Arthur Phillips' music-propelled novel "The Song Is You" for the screen.

According to Deadline Hollywood, Condon ("Dreamgirls," "Chicago") will pen the screenplay and direct, while Mark will produce for Focus Features. Condon and Mark also produced the 2009 Oscars and collaborated on "Dreamgirls" film together. The 2009 novel follows a commercial director who becomes romantically involved with a young Irish singer on the verge of stardom whom the director has only heard perform in a bar. "The book is a story told through music, but there’s a whole other dimension we can bring through film," Condon said.

Condon's upcoming film projects include "Salmon Fishing In The Yemen," "Tilda" and a Richard Prior bio-pic.
