Long Wharf Theatre artistic director Gordon Edelstein, who adapted the classic drama, directs the production that will run through May 23. The cast features Reeder (Top Girls, Sight Unseen) as Nora, Linda Powell (On Golden Pond) as Kristine, Mark Nelson (Bridge Project's Winter's Tale, Cherry Orchard) as Krogstad, Tim Hopper (Picasso at the Lapin Agile) as Rank, Maegan Pachomski as Helene and Adam Trese (Broadway's Twelve Angry Men, A View from the Bridge) as the controlling Torvald.
"I adapted Ibsen’s play in much the same way I adapted Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya," Edelstein said in a statement. "I am doing Ibsen’s play as he wrote it, except that I am making the language speakable in today’s words. Most translations are Victorian and stuffy. I’ve cut out some of the repetitive beats and simplified some of the overwrought plot points."
