News Contestant Eliminated from "American Idol"; Top Three Now Remain Michael Lynche was eliminated from this season's "American Idol" — often a stepping stone to the Broadway stage — May 12 following a public vote. The announcement was made during the live broadcast of the country's biggest singing competition.

For this week's competition, the finalists were mentored by Jamie Foxx.

The three contestants who are now vying for the "America Idol" title are Casey James, Crystal Bowersox and Lee Dewyze.

Among the many "American Idol" finalists and/or winners who have appeared on Broadway are Fantasia (The Color Purple), Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young (both back on Broadway in Hair), Tamyra Gray, Constantine Maroulis (on Broadway in Rock of Ages), Frenchie Davis, Clay Aiken and Taylor Hicks (currently in the national tour of Grease).
