Karin Coonrod will direct a new production of Shakespeare's King John, at Off-Broadway's Theatre for a New Audience. Previews will begin Jan. 25 for an opening Jan. 30.
Featured in the cast are Ned Eisenberg (The Green Bird) in the title role, Derek Smith (also The Green Bird) and Myra Carter, the veteran actress who won nearly every award available for her performance in Edward Albee's Three Tall Women.
Coonrod, a Downtown theatre staple, has directed Henry VI at the Public Theater, and numerous productions at Arden Party, the Off-Off Broadway troupe she helped found.
Rounding out the cast are Bruce Turk, Glenn Fleshler, Nicholas Kepros, Michael Rogers, Craig Wroe, Michael Ray Escamilla, Katie MacNichol, Neil Maffin, Pamela Nyberg and Mark Vietor.
The remainder of the TFANA runs as follows: • Waste by Harley Granville Barker, directed by Bartlett Sher, beginning March 7.
• The Green Bird, Julie Taymor's version of Carlo Gozzi's fable, at Broadway's Cort Theatre, beginning April 1.
