It's more than just skiing and music. Telluride, located in the snow-capped mountains of Colorado, hosts entertainment events all summer long, with activities ranging from a Wild West Fest (July 22-25) to a Mushroom-picking Weekend (Aug. 26-29). Theatre, too, is part of the mix, including a playwriting festival and performances by a local repertory company.
Telluride Rep arrives July 16-Aug. 1 with Medea, to be staged outdoors, in-the-round in Town Park. Euripides' tragedy tells of a mother who really wants to get back at her husband. The repertory company performs year round but does outdoor productions throughout the summer.
The Playwriting Festival happens Aug. 12-15 and features works by four winners of a national high school playwriting contest, according to Telluride Visitor Services spokesperson Annie Kuhles.
