Playbill is now the official home of Tyler Mount’s long-running YouTube series The Tyler Mount Vlog, in which he gets up close and personal with Broadway’s biggest stars on his living room couch. Mount has also joined the Playbill editorial staff as video content manager, which will mean even more exclusive first looks at upcoming Broadway shows and some exciting, soon-to-be-announced new video series. Here's everything a Tyler Mount fan and a Playbill reader need to know about Playbill's Tyler Mount Vlog.
Originally launched a year and a half ago as a side project while working as a production assistant on Broadway, Mount's initial idea was simple: invite theatre friends to chat about the industry and just have a good time. It didn't take long before the vlog, which was increasingly shared on social media, caught the attention of the wider theatre community, and Mount began to receive more and more requests to join him in his living room.
The series started gaining more traction when Gloria Estefan—Mount was stage managing On Your Feet! at the time—asked him if she could make an appearance. The episode was hugely popular and helped turn Mount into not only a recognized social influencer, but a certified entrepreneur—when he completed his contract as a PA for On Your Feet!, he turned his attention to the vlog full time.
That format will stay the same as the show becomes rebranded Playbill's Tyler Mount Vlog. Every Monday and Friday, Mount will continue to invite guests from the world of Broadway to sit on his couch for a chat, fun games, and more than a few laughs. For Mount, the success of the vlog has been a dream come true. As a young Broadway fan growing up in Texas, Mount had longed for a way to get closer to the Broadway community, and Playbill's Tyler Mount Vlog does just that: It’s intimate, accessible, and entertaining.
