News "Creed" Director Ryan Coogler Says He's the Guy to Film Hamilton Ryan Coogler who is enjoying a hit with "Creed," Sylvester Stallone's latest installment in the "Rocky" film franchise, says he's the guy to direct a movie adaptation of the Broadway musical Hamilton.

In an interview with Vanity Fair magazine, headlined "'Creed' Director Ryan Coogler Would Gladly Direct a Hamilton Movie, F.Y.I.," Coogler said, "I think anyone who ever picked up a camera would.... That’s all people are talking about in California right now.”

The interviewer cautioned, "The subject didn’t come up between him and Miranda, so consider this article a friendly suggestion!"

A spokesperson for Hamilton didn't immediately return comment to Playbill.com.

Coogler previously directed "Fruitvale Station," based on the true story of a young black man killed while in police custody. He said exploring the theme of race in American history is part of his artistic goal, referring to slavery as "America’s worst sin."
