News   CSC's The Seagull, With Wiest and Cumming, Extends Through April The Classic Stage Company production of The Seagull — starring Academy Award winner Dianne Wiest and Tony winner Alan Cumming — has been extended through April 13.

Viacheslav Dolgachev directs the production, which is set to begin performances Feb. 20. The production was originally scheduled to conclude its downtown engagement March 30. The Seagull will officially open at Classic Stage March 13. Wiest stars as Irina Arkadina, with Cumming cast as Trigorin in Chekhov's masterpiece that dissects "the affairs of the heart and the demands of a life in the arts, while balancing the comic, the lyric and the tragic in a manner that has become the hallmark of his work," according to producers' notes.

Wiest and Cumming will be joined by Kelli Garner (Nina Mikhailovna Zarechnaya), Ryan O'Nan (Konstantin Gavrilovich Treplev), Annette O'Toole (Paulina Andryevna), David Rasche (Yevgeny Sergeyevich Dorn), John Christopher Jones (Pyotr Nikolayevich Sorin), Bill Christ (Ilya Shamrayev), Ryan Homchick (Yakov), Greg Keller (Semyon Semyonovich Medvedenko) and Marjan Neshat (Masha).

The Seagull features sets by Tony Award winner Santo Loquasto, costumes by Suzy Benzinger, lighting by Tony Award winner Brian MacDevitt and hair design by Paul Huntley. The translation is by Paul Schmidt.
