CT's Long Wharf Theatre will present Tim Blake Nelson's The Grey Zone on their Stage II, Jan 26-March 7.

Based on actual events, The Grey Zone is the story of the Sonderkommando at Auschwitz -- 'Special Squads" of Jewish prisoners placed by the Nazis in the excruciating moral dilemma of aiding the extermination process before being exterminated themselves. The plot hinges on a squad's discovery of a young girl who has miraculously survived the gas.

The production will be directed by Long Wharf Artistic Director Doug Hughes, who won a 1996 OBIE Award for the play's original Off-Broadway run at Manhattan Class Company.

The cast for The Grey Zone includes Glenn Fitzgerald, Murphy Guyer, Steve Mellor, Thomas Murphy, Abigail Rose Revasch, Lee Sellars, and Richard Topol. The production team includes Cathy Zuber (costumes), Neil Patel (sets), Michael Chybowski (lights), and David Van Tieghem (sound).

The Grey Zone will play at Long Wharf's Stage II, Jan. 26 - March 7, 1999. For tickets or more information, call (203) 787-4282. -- By Sean McGrath
